My Story: A functional and lightweight bag produced using an 80gsm REACH compliant fabric that is made from recycled polypropylene. This is an unlaminated material that is recyclable and able to then be made into other polypropylene products (fabrics, sheet materials, containers etc). The bag can be used for a huge range of tasks both in and out of the office or household. It can be washed and repurposed as often as required. 

End of Life: Should this bag no longer find a purpose or becomes damaged and unfixable it can be recycled by simply removing the drawstring cord and placed into clothing or fabric recycling stations. The Cord is made from nylon which though recyclable in nature is not currently accepted in recycling stations in the UK. Both the bag material and the cord could also be repurposed by the user.

My Story: The body and four (4) connector components of this multi-cable are made from BioSphere® biodegradable plastic. This is a certified bio-degradation compound in the plastic, that once in contact with high solids environments (under the soil and landfills) will biodegrade and return to nature within 3-5 years. The flexible legs (cables) are made from Dupont Tyvek, which is a water and tear resistant paper that is Food Grade and full recyclable.

End Of Life: At end of product life the user will need to take this product to an E-Waste recycling service/centre. The components would then be separated, with the casing and legs processed for further recycling.

My Story: Manufactured with a total recycled content of 65% (based on total item weight). RCS certification ensures a completely certified supply chain of the recycled materials. Aluminium does not lose its characteristics in the recycling process and can be recycled endlessly. The total CO2 life cycle assessment* of this product, per unit, is 0.36kg. This comprises 164g in Materials and Production, 13g in packaging, 20g in transportation, 24g for End of Life and 6g for the Energy use and Electronics components.

My Story: Made from wheat straw which is the stalk left over after wheat grains are harvested. Traditionally, it has been treated as a waste. In some countries, farmers burn it, contributing to air pollution and creating a public health hazard. When mixed with other materials, it becomes an amazing plastic substitute and helps against the impacts of plastic waste. Wheat straw plastic can decompose in industrial composting sites within 6-9 months or up to a maximum of 2 years (depending on manufacturer).

End Of Life: At end of product life the user can separate the card from the internal components, placing the metal pin, cable and adaptors with an electronics (E-Waste) recycling service. The Card itself can be recycled, or placed with industrial composting services.

My Story: Designed to remove the need to carry ID cards (or bank notes) that are not (yet) able to be held digitally within your device. Currently this model is made from PU Leather, though as alternative and more eco minded material options become available this product may be updated at this point. 

End of Life: The packaging can be placed into paper recycling, the card itself when no longer usable could have the magnet removed (manually) and then placed into metals. The PU leather may be able to be recycled, though this is dependant on your local waste collection services.

My Story: Made using a bamboo casing, this electronic item removes the need for plastics or metals in it's outer construction. 

End of Life: Should this product reach a point where it is no longer usable, the bamboo section can be separated with from the internal components. The bamboo can then be recycled, while the electronics (PCB + wiring) will need to be taken to taken to a E-Waste recycling service/centre (provided by most local councils). The alternative would be to repurpose this product, perhaps as a Table coaster or placed under a pot plant/toothbrush holder to prevent watermarking on the surface below.

My Story: Bamboo is a fast growing plant (actually a Grass!) with the strength and workability specifications of timber. It grows to maturity in 5 years, versus 30 – 120 years for other natural timbers. After a bamboo plant is harvested, four to seven new plants will grow from its roots. No replanting necessary.  

End of Life: The small rubber feet can be removed then this item can be recycled or composted. Always check with your local recycling authority before placing your bamboo products in the recycling bin.

My Story: Small and unique shape tin (made from Tin) that can have a life long after the contents have been consumed. 

"Tin can be infinitely recycled to the same high quality due to its intrinsic properties and economic value. For tin products, the average recycled content can be quantified as the ‘Recycling Input Rate’ (RIR). This measures the percentage contribution of recycled ‘secondary’ tin, both in refined and unrefined forms. My Story: Bottle with marks to give a guide on what level of water you should be consuming each day, giving the user a reason to use the bottle over and over again. Made from PET plastic which is easily recycled. There is no silicone seal/band on this product as the lid has a second rim to seal tight against the screw top. This means the entire bottle and lid are able to be recycled without the need to remove a silicone ring.

End of Life: Bottle and Lid can be placed into standard plastic recycling (PET). The bag the unit is supplied in can be used for home composting.

The finished mug can then be used indefinitely, potentially up to final point of breakage (which would be due to accident rather than material degradation). The mug is machine or hand washable and uses a non-toxic glaze.

End of Life: Ceramic Mugs have a huge range of options when it comes to being repurposed; small plant pots, candle holder, toothbrush or pen holder, or broken up and used as drainage material for larger pot plants. Should the mug be in state that can not be repurposed these can be taken to recycling centres. My Story: This product is manufactured in the UK: both aluminium and cork are created from basic sheet form to reduce the carbon footprint of the supply chain. This item has Zero AirMiles and the factory uses a Carbon Offset Scheme to lower the impact of the UK manufacturing and assembly process. Aluminium is 100% recyclable. Cork is a natural material which is degradable or can easily be repurposed.

End of Life: Should the coaster finish is usable life, the aluminium and cork can be separated (they are just glued together) and the metal can be recycled: Aluminium does not lose its characteristics in the recycling process and can be recycled endlessly. The Cork base can be repurposed (cork floats!) or will biodegrade naturally. Cork will break down without releasing toxins into the environment. It is a highly sustainable and self-regenerative material that does not contribute to deforestation.

My Story: Designed as a practical notebook with an additional sturdy, foldable hard cover allowing the added feature of a phone stand. The internal pages are made from recycled paper, the notebook cover from paper and card. The external textured cover is made from rPET, which is Recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate plastic). The recycled material (PET) is taken from plastic bottles reclaimed from landfill. 

End of Life: Once this product has been filled up and is no longer usable, the hard cover, notebook cover and internal pages can all be recycled easily (rPET and paper/card). The user needs to separate the hard cover (rPET plastic) from the notebook cover (card) and internal pages (paper). They also need to remove the Elastic closure band, Pen loop as well as the ribbon marker, by pulling them away from the notebooks spine and edge. These would need to be disposed of into normal waste, or could be repurposed by the user.

My Story: Plantable paper is a biodegradable eco-paper made with post-consumer and post-industrial paper waste that is embedded with seeds. When the paper cover is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds grow and the paper composts away. All that is left behind is flowers, herbs or vegetables, and no waste.

End of Life: When the notebook is filled and ready to dispose of, remove pages and recycle in the paper recycling bin. The cover can then be planted:

1. Cover it under a very thin dusting of soil. (Only 1-2cm deep)
2. Keep it moist during germination and ensure there is good drainage. Don’t let the water pool.
3. Make sure it gets plenty of sunlight! Wildflowers love the sun.

My Story: A premium feel metal pen created using recycled aluminium, rPET and stainless steel trim as well as a bamboo plunger. Materials that all lend themselves well to the Sustainable messaging. Aluminium is an easily recycled metal using a relatively low energy process compared to other metals and this pen can again be recycled after use. Bamboo and rPET is used in the small finishing on the pens clip/button section, replacing virgin plastic. The pens refill is rated to a writing distance of 1800 meters so the user can hold onto this pen for a long period of time. Item is engraved so no print inks are used in the branding. 

End of Life: An average pen refill will write for around 900-1000m, so we hope with a 1800m rated ink refill this pen will last much longer - but when it does reach its end of life, the components can be separated out and recycled or repurposed by the user.

• Aluminium - Can be reprocessed multiple times. Recycling aluminium uses only about 5% of the energy required for smelting, making it the metal with the highest recycling energy savings of any major material.
• Steel - The most recyclable material on the planet by weight (1085 million tonnes annually) - steel can be continually recycled.
• rPET (recycled PET) - Saves two-thirds of the energy usually required to produce virgin plastic. Recycling this again into can create containers, carpets, clothes, protective packaging, and other products indefinitely.

My Story: The composition of Barrel, Clip and Push Button are all made from at least 90% cellulose acetate, a renewable and biodegradable material. Barrel and clip colour may vary slightly due to the nature of the material. Supplied with a refill that is rated for over 1400m so will keep going for months of use. Produced the EU, this is a sturdy and fully recyclable item. 

End of Life: When this pen reaches an unusable stage, the user can unscrew the Clip/Barrel section and remove the Metal Spring and Ink Refill. Then, use the Ink Refill as a tool to pop out the second spring mechanism in the Clip section, along with the Button and clear Spring Clasp. The four (4) white components can then be placed into standard plastics recycling, the two (2) Springs into Metals recycling - and the Ink Refill into standard waste (you could also cut this to place the used tube section into plastics, as this is ABS plastic). 

The user could also repurpose the pen:

1. The Ink Refill is a universal fit, so you could replace this component and the pen can then continue to be used. 
   
2. The Metal Springs can be lightly uncoiled and then repurposed to create cable-protectors (re-wound onto electronics cables to cover/protect the join section where Cable meets Connector)

My Story: Prodir now use 100% recycled plastic (ABS) for this pens body (50% for the Grey material). The low-pollutant, lead-free ink refill is compliant with the REACH regulation (1907/2006) and contains no elements on the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list or in its annexes. Supplied with a refill that is rated for over 2500m so will keep going for months of use. Produced in Switzerland by Prodir, a hugely reputable manufacturer who are SMETA certified and part of the AIM-Progress group. The factory in Switzerland uses 100% hydropower for all manufacturing. 

End of Life: When this pen reaches an unusable stage, if the user wishes to dispose of the pen they can unscrew the Nose Cone and remove the Metal Spring and Ink Refill. The plastic components can then be placed into standard plastics recycling, the Spring into metals recycling. The Ink Refill would need to go into standard waste. Prodir ink refills are actually available through retail channels, so the user could simply buy further refills and continue using the pen if they choose. Refills are a listed under the Prodir or Premec brand (as well as other generic manufacturers who make compatible sized refills)

Environmental consequences of the elevated use of chemicals in the non-organic cotton growing methods include the following: chemicals used in the processing of cotton pollute the air and surface waters. decreased biodiversity and shifting equilibrium of ecosystems due to the use of pesticides.

My Story: Flag material is made from Display rated Polyester and printed with water based inks. The Pole set is fibreglass with Steel connectors. The carry bag is made from Nylon.

End of Life: The flag material is recyclable so could be either creatively repurposed (large paint matt, or temporary seat cover) or placed into clothing/fabric recycling services. The Carry bag too can be placed into fabric recycling. Fibreglass (Fibre-reinforced plastic or FRP) requires specific recycling processes (Mechanical or Thermal) to reduce the chance of this material ending up in landfill. For this reason we would recommend asking your local council or waste services department for options with this material.
