My Story: A simple and functional notebook created using uncoated kraft card for the cover and internal sheets of recycled paper which has been FSC certified; both of which can be recycled. The closure band, pen loop and page ribbon are all glued into the notebook and made using rPET (recycled nylon and polyester) as well as Elastane (not currently recyclable). Branded here in the UK using a process of laser engraving, rather than ink. 

End of Life: Once this product has been filled up and is no longer usable, the cover and pages can both be recycled easily (paper and cardboard). The user needs to remove the Elastic closure band and pen loop as well as the ribbon marker, by simply pulling away from the notebooks spine. These would need to be disposed of into normal waste, or could be repurposed by the user.

My Story: Barrel and Trim made from Steel. The pens refill is rated to a writing distance of 1800 meters so the user can hold onto this pen for a long period of time. Item is engraved so no print inks are used in the branding. 

End of Life: An average pen refill will write for around 900-1000m, so we hope with a 1800m rated ink refill this pen will last much longer - but when it does reach its end of life the refill could be replaced by the user, or the pen could be separated (unscrew nose cone) into five (5) components:

1. Barrel (metal and plastic inner) - metals recycling 
2. Ink refill* - placed into normal waste
3. Spring - metals recycling
4. Nose cone - metals recycling
5. Button Link (small white plastic component) - Plastics recycling

*The ink refill for this pen can be replaced by the end user. It is a standard size and is available through various retail channels.

My Story: The composition of Barrel, Clip and Push Button are all made from at least 90% cellulose acetate, a renewable and biodegradable material. Barrel and clip colour may vary slightly due to the nature of the material. Supplied with a refill that is rated for over 1400m so will keep going for months of use. Produced the EU, this is a sturdy and fully recyclable item. 

End of Life: When this pen reaches an unusable stage, the user can unscrew the Clip/Barrel section and remove the Metal Spring and Ink Refill. Then, use the Ink Refill as a tool to pop out the second spring mechanism in the Clip section, along with the Button and clear Spring Clasp. The four (4) white components can then be placed into standard plastics recycling, the two (2) Springs into Metals recycling - and the Ink Refill into standard waste (you could also cut this to place the used tube section into plastics, as this is ABS plastic). 

The user could also repurpose the pen:

1. The Ink Refill is a universal fit, so you could replace this component and the pen can then continue to be used. 
   
2. The Metal Springs can be lightly uncoiled and then repurposed to create cable-protectors (re-wound onto electronics cables to cover/protect the join section where Cable meets Connector)

My Story: Made from 70% recycled cotton blended with 30% recycled polyester: When cotton is recycled the strength of the cotton fibres is weakened, so a polymer needs to be introduced to strengthen the material. This is done using r-PET (a polymer made from plastic bottles reclaimed from landfill) which gives the new material the strength to be used in a huge range of products, that pure 100% recycled cotton would not be suitable for. 

End of Life: Should the bag reach end of life or become damaged beyond usable condition, then material could be cut and repurposed or placed into a cotton/garment recycling scheme. The bag could also be repurposed in hundreds of different ways: Cut to strips and used as a insulating layer for an outdoor pet home, cut into absorbent cloths for household cleaning. This material also make a great storage bag for root vegetables (really!): Potatoes tend not to sprout, chit or rot when kept in cotton bags (it keeps them away from direct light but still able to breathe)

My Story: Made from r-PET, which is Recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate plastic). The recycled material (PET) is taken from plastic bottles reclaimed from landfill. This process allows a new material which can be created into a fabric, without exhausting natural resources

End of Life: Should the lanyard reach end of life or become damaged beyond usable condition, then material could be creatively repurposed or placed into a polyester recycling scheme. The Safety Break (PET) and Trigger Clip (Steel) could be separated from the fabric lanyard and also placed into plastic/metal recycling schemes.

My Story: With AWARE™ tracer technology the use of genuine recycled fabric materials and water reduction impact claims are guaranteed, by using the AWARE disruptive physical tracer and blockchain technology. Save water and use genuine recycled fabrics. **Water savings are based on figures when compared to conventional fibre. This calculated indication is based on reliable LCA data as published by Textile Exchange in their Material Snapshots 2016. 

The total CO2 life cycle assessment* of this product, per unit, is 2.74kg. This comprises 2458g in Materials and Production, 20g in packaging, 121g in transportation and 143g for End of Life.
*This LCA assessment covers all GHG-emissions generated by a product throughout its entire life-cycle; from the extraction of raw materials to the end-of-life treatment/disposal. The calculations are based on a carbon footprint (CFP) calculation tool. The methodology is in conformity with the principles of ISO 14067:2018, verified and critically reviewed, in compliance with ISO 14071:2014, by the Bureau Veritas.

My Story: Easy to clean, sturdy and built for ongoing use, therefore helping to reduce the use of single use water bottles. Can hold hot or cold liquids and so has a great use for all manner of drinks. Made from 304 Grade stainless steel. Steel is the most recyclable material on earth, by weight. It can continually be recycled while maintaining its strength and core properties. Recycling steel involves remelting the metal in an electric arc furnace or a simple oxygen furnace, and this recycling process accounts for about 40% of the total amount of steel produced globally.  

End of Life: The main bottle/vessel section can be recycled as a metal (stainless steel). The Lid would require the silicone seal to be (easily) removed and placed in general waste. The remaining lid component can then also be recycled (separated as plastic and steel). The Cork base can be separated at point of recycling and will naturally biodegrade.
